What Are Captions?
Captions are synchronized text for dialogue and important sounds in a video. They help:

What Are Transcripts?
Transcripts are full, time-stamped text versions of a video's audio. They benefit:
- People with limited internet access
- Users of Braille displays or screen readers
- Anyone needing quick keyword search
What Are Subtitles?
Subtitles translate spoken words into another language. Click the CC or Subtitles button in your media player to enable them.
What Is Audio Description?
Audio description adds narration that explains actions, scene changes, and text on screen, helping blind or low-vision viewers.

Platform-Specific Tools
Microsoft Teams

- Click the More actions (three dots) button.
- Select Language and speech.
- Choose Show live captions.
- To disable, choose Hide live captions.

Recording and Transcription
- Teams now prompts you to enable captions when recording. To record:
- Click More actions > Record and transcribe > Start recording.
- Confirm the spoken language.
- To stop, click Stop recording.

- Instructors can record with Meet Now. Captions are auto-added and editable in Microsoft Stream.
Microsoft PowerPoint
Live Captions During Presentations
- Go to Slide Show in the ribbon.
- Select Always Use Subtitles.
- Choose the spoken and subtitle languages.
